Insurance claim repairs
The repair work on an insured loss, with the documentation your file needs.
When a claim is involved there are two jobs: the building work, and the paperwork that has to line up with it. We do the building work, and we write our estimate and our documentation so it can go straight into your file.
What we will not do is stand between you and your insurer. That is a licensed activity and a different profession.
What we do
- Documenting the damage — photographs, measurements, and written scope
- A written repair estimate, itemized, suitable for your claim file
- Answering the insurer’s questions about our own estimate and our own scope
- Remediation, structural repair, and full reconstruction
- Bringing affected work up to current code
We do not negotiate or settle claims, act for you in dealing with your insurer, or make any offer touching your deductible. Negotiating or settling a claim on a policyholder’s behalf is public adjusting, which is licensed separately in Virginia and is not what we are licensed for.
Common questions
What exactly do you provide for my claim file?
Photographs, measurements, and a written scope of the damage, and an itemized repair estimate suitable for the file.
We will also answer the insurer’s questions about our own estimate and our own scope.
Will you deal with my insurance company on my behalf?
No, and anyone telling you otherwise should be asked what license they hold.
Negotiating or settling a claim for a policyholder is public adjusting. It is licensed separately in Virginia and it is not what we are licensed for. We are the contractor: we document the damage, price the repair, and do the work.
Does the repair bring everything up to current code?
Bringing affected work up to current code is part of the scope, which matters on an older house where the damaged area was built to a standard that has since moved on.
